The 2020 Vintage in Argentina 🇦🇷

The 2020 vintage in the Uco Valley was a truly spectacular year and one which will long live in the memory, not just because of the health and quality of the grapes, but because of the situation in which it took place.

Finishing the harvest in the midst of the Covid-19 quarantine was a huge challenge for the vineyard and winery teams. They put in countless hours of work, extra effort and protective measures to finish ahead of the expected date.

The general climate during the productive cycle was extremely dry, with lower mínimum temperatures and higher heat spikes during the summer. The winter was dry and there were some moderate frosts in the Valle de Uco at the beginning of September. The beginning of Spring was also dry, with the first rains coming in the middle of October after six months without precipitation. In the month of November there was more rain and a higher thermal amplitude; starting in December the temperatures reached their maximum levels, even rising above 40°C in January and February.

Influenced by the heat wave and the quarantine, the harvest was short.  The vineyard team was impressed by the uniform ripeness in all varietals.

Pablo Martorell, head winemaker, underscores the excellent health and concentration of this year’s grapes, particularly in the Malbec and Cabernet Franc grapes. We have excellent color, fruit expression, concentration and acidity.
